Where do I pick the vehicle up from?
Vehicles can either be collected from our Depot location in Kings Meadows (2, Merino Street) or Launceston Airport. (surcharge does apply for airport pick-ups and drop-offs.)
How do I pick up and drop my rental vehicle?
We offer all automated vehicle pick-up and drop-offs at both our depot location and Launceston airport (Located at budget Airpark, a convenient short 5 minute walk from Launceston Airport) through the use of our automated Key lock boxes. You will receive a key lock box access code for both vehicles to pick up and drop off, via email once pre-hire check-in is completed. What is your booking cancellation policy?
We offer a free cancellation policy (less a booking fee of 2.2%) to all bookings up until 3 days prior to vehicle pick-up time. After this, we charge a fee late cancellation fee (50% of the booking) until 24 hours before vehicle pick-up time. Cancellations of bookings made within 24 hours of vehicle pick-up time are non-refundable.
Free rescheduling of booking is always available. (Subject to vehicle availability)
What happens if we are in an accident or breakdown?
We offer 24-hour roadside assistance with all of our rental vehicles to ensure you will always be looked after no matter what the circumstance. Emergency contact numbers along with step-by-step instructions to follow in case of an incident can be found in the Glove box of all Tassie Trippers rental vehicles.
Are you an accredited hire vehicle operator?
Yes, Tassie Trippers Car Hire is a fully accredited and insured vehicle for hire operator.

What is the Pre check in process?
Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a link to complete your pre-check-in process from ChargeAutomation. This is used due to the autonomous nature of our vehicle pick-ups and is designed to be the same as any hire car pick-up, you just complete the process online prior to pickup.
During this process, you will have the opportunity to review and sign our hire contract, upload a copy of your driver's licence and fill in your credit card details for the $500 security deposit hold. (this is timed with the booking and does not come into effect until 24 hours before vehicle pick-up.)
Can we drop vehicles/ pick up vehicles from Hobart?
At this stage, no. Tassie trippers car hire can only offer vehicle pick up and drop off from either our Launceston depot or Launceston airport.
When will I receive my security deposit refund?
Once you have returned your hire vehicle, a post-hire inspection is completed on the vehicle. (this is completed and processed on the next business day after vehicle return).
You will then receive an email confirming the passing of the inspection and that your $500 security deposit hold has been released. (funds will be received in 5-7 business days)
Can I take my vehicle into national parks?
Tassie Trippers vehicles are allowed into all national parks provided the roads are not closed to weather or roads are poorly formed or washed out. Care should be taken when traveling on unsealed roads (Gravel Roads).
Can I take my vehicle off road?
Tassie Trippers vehicles are permitted on unsealed roads (gravel roads) provided that they are properly formed and NOT 4wd tracks, dirt roads or washed out tracks. Care should be taken on all roads but especially unsealed roads as the loose gravel can become slippery, particularly at corners.
